My review simply covers the Collector's Edition of Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

This edition was carried by GameStop stores. When I wandered in to pick up my copy of Ninja Gaiden Sigma, the guy behind the counter suggested I get the Collector's Edition.

Me: "Why shouldn't I just get the regular version?"

Store employee: "There's an extra DVD with hidden codes, and you get to see how the game was made!"

With that endorsement, I shelled out my extra ten bucks.

On the DVD, I saw a number of gaming developers. They discussed certain improvements, the advantages of the Playstation 3's storage capacity for graphics compression, and their staunch refusal to make the game easier than the Ninja Gaiden Black version on the Xbox. I loved the visit to the Asakusa Temple in Tokyo, though this only lasted about 2 minutes. I couldn't wait to see behind the scenes of how the game itself was made.

Unfortunately, almost halfway through the DVD, one developer, Hayashi-San, pretty much said that Team Ninja isn't the type of company to show exactly how a game is made...they prefer to not do this because "that could be an excuse as to why the game isn't the way it should be."

Okay....so this TOTALLY contradicted what I was told.

The majority of the DVD is spent watching various members of Team Ninja talking in vague terms about the future, going to karaoke bars, playing electric guitars, that kind of thing. I felt like I got duped into watching an episode of "The Real World" set in Japan!

So what about the secret codes?
Well, there is a hidden code (not codes) hidden throughout the DVD, which can be used to unlock a few hidden missions in the game.

Now, The Ninja Gaiden Black version has more costumes and allows the player to access the original Ninja Gaiden game. I would have expected this content to be included in the Collector's Edition, but alas, it was still absent.

So what did I really got out of this "Collector's Edition"? A code which I could have found on the internet for free.

Let the buyer beware!
