Imagine being able to play with Legos without having to get all the pieces. Now you can with Lego Indiana Jones. It takes the fun and creative construction of LEGO and combines it with the wits, daring and non-stop action from the original cinematic adventures. With a tongue-in-cheek take on these original adventures, LEGO Indiana Jones follows Dr. Jones's escapades through the jungles of South America to the mountaintops of India where you will build, battle and brawl your way through your favorite moments, from Indy's entanglements with snakes to his dashing boulder run.

Your Favorite Hero in Lego Form

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures takes the fun and creative construction of LEGO and combines it with the wits, daring and non-stop action from the original cinematic adventures that enthralled audiences everywhere (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). With a unique tongue-in-cheek take on the original adventures, LEGO Indiana Jones follows Dr. Jones escapades through the jungles of South America to the mountaintops of India. Fans can build, battle and brawl their way through their favorite cinematic moments, from Indy’s entanglements with snakes to his dashing boulder run.

Of course, pop culture’s most iconic archaeologist will whip through all the classic moments with the help of a host of supporting characters including Marion Ravenwood and Short Round. Players can also mix and match the body parts of more than 60 playable characters to create new heroes just as they could in the best-selling LEGO Star Wars games.

2 out of 5 stars Gets Boring Pretty Soon   November 18, 2008
singh2005 (Boston, MA (USA))
This game was fun to begin but it got boring pretty soon. I ended up trading it in in less than 2 weeks. I'm not saying that this is a bad game, but the overall game quality is not any better than those plenty of downloadable games available on PSN. And they are much much cheaper. The biggest reason this gets 2 stars from me is I can not justify the $[...] price. Maybe I'll recommend it for $[...].

4 out of 5 stars excellent choice!   October 8, 2008

DON'T be put off by "lego" and assume it's for pre-schoolers...it's very clever, not blood n' guts violent, sufficiently challenging, a really good choice. my two 11 year old sons love it, and often gravitate towards it rather than the more "mature", violent stuff. the lego star wars is very excellent, too. maybe better.

4 out of 5 stars Doesn't live up to Lego Star Wars   October 8, 2008

Or maybe I'm just a bigger fan of Star Wars than of the Indian Jones franchise. This game is incredibly cute, I have actually ordered a Lego playset just so I can have a Lego Sean Connery on my desk at work. It was fun, and I constantly found myself saying, "ooh look, they got that in from the movie!" I thought the treasures were more difficult to find in this game than in the Star Wars games, and the occasional odd angle of viewing made it hard to aim the characters for jumps, making it nearly impossible for my 5 yr old to play alone. Mom had to come "help" for most of the game, not that I minded in the least. I found a few glitches, one being during the race for the ark where you are jumping from truck to truck. After killing all the Nazi's, it still wouldn't allow us to drive the truck, and after about 5 minutes of just riding on the top we finally had to look up a walkthrough online just to see what we were supposed to do. After leaving that scene, it worked fine when we came back to it later. There was another scene that had this same type of error, something missing that was there when we left that scene and then went back later, but I can't remember where it was now. I have to rate it four stars, because, while it was fun, it just didn't have that same level of "wow" to me.

5 out of 5 stars Fun for Kids and Adults   September 11, 2008

I got this primarily for my two boys, ages 5 and 7. Both of them are avid Lego Star Wars players, so I felt confident they would enjoy Indiana Jones. It was a hit with them. My older son went to task clearing the levels. My younger son enjoys the occasional level run or just toying around with custom characters. With infinite lives, he's free to explore as he likes without a 'GAME OVER' spoiling his fun.

Truth be told, I enjoyed playing the game as well. As an adult I found the game rather elementary. However, the nostalgia factor was there, the humor quite enjoyable, and the challenge level suitable as a 'casual' game.

As a parent, there is some concern that most conflicts in the game are solved through violence (bloodless, Lego violence). Also, the movies have some creepy themes (ritual sacrifice, melting Nazis, monkey brains, etc.), but the visceralness is toned down and often covered up by humor. I think the worst was the smiling monkey head being served with its brain exposed. It sounds disturbing, but just looked silly. So far, no complaints of bad dreams from the kids. Just boyish giggles and 'GROSS!'

4 out of 5 stars Silly, Fun, Satisfying   September 6, 2008

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is an action/adventure 3D platformer that lets you play as Indiana Jones and his compatriots through the original three Indiana Jones movies. Being a LEGO game, of course, you're all LEGO characters, and all your enemies, items, equipment, and surroundings are made of LEGOs as well. Given that the game has no spoken dialogue (all the cutscenes are acted out with random grunts and noises), it makes for an interesting take on the actual movies.

The gameplay, however, really is a lot of fun. There's a fair amount of beating up enemies, but most of the game is puzzle oriented, and you'll find yourself doing a lot of exploring, sometimes getting stuck, and then having a grand revelation of how to proceed. In general, the game is pretty easy, so you should never get too frustrated, and given the unique gameplay, this would be a fun game for children or adults. Personally, I recommend playing with a friend or loved one, as the 2-player action is much more satisfying than playing with the computer as your accomplice.

Overall, this game is going to be the most fun for diehard Indiana Jones fans, but in itself, it's still a fun game. Anyone who is a fan of puzzle games, platformers, or fans of the LEGO game franchise, should definitely pick this one up.
