Amazon.com Product Description Get the most from Blu-ray movies and other high-definition media with the advanced performance of the Sony HT-SS2000 Home Theater System. This system includes a powerful 5.1 channel A/V receiver pushing 1000 Watts of power (RMS). Featuring Bravia Theatre Sync, the HT-SS2000 also offers easy one-touch operation of compatible Sony HDMI components, so you no longer need to juggle multiple remote controls. Bravia Theatre Sync technology goes beyond simple audio and video transmission when combined with a select number of Bravia LCD televisions. Control functions will also be transmitted via the HDMI cable. With One Touch Play, operations that took several steps have been reduced to one. The receiver detects and receives the best possible video and audio signals from all connected devices, making connection and performance as simple as plugging in a single wire. Sony's HDMI Active Intelligence produces both audio and video through one HDMI cable. Connect the included microphone and with a push of a button, the speakers are automatically adjusted to your favorite listening position. Additionally, the simplified front-side audio and video connections make it easy to play music stored on portables through the receiver.

Nice Unit ~! August 3, 2008 A. Gimenez (League City, TX. USA) I have had this unit for close to 4 months now. One of the main reasons for getting this unit was the multiple HDMI ports on the back and the 1000 watt capability. Despite what many reviews say on here, the sound is truly amazing. While its not as nice as the Bose, its pretty high up their. Their are a few times when I hear noises through one of the side speakers and think its a noise in the other room. The auto-calibrate is bogus and the menu through the small lcd screen does get annoying sometimes, but overall its a great surround sound system for the price. I have the bass setting fairly low, and even then it cause some rattling with furniture in the room. I would not recommend this for someone in an apartment, as it can get pretty loud without realizing it (found out the hard way). The audio sync function is great for matching up with the TV speakers, as sometimes one will have a slight delay.
Note: The center channel does not line up with the Sony SU FL300L TV stand brackets. If you have this TV stand and want to attach the center channel in its described location, you will have to either drill new holes or get different brackets.
DOES NOT PLAY BLU-RAY DISKS July 18, 2008 Andre De Vasconcelos (MA, USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
MIND YOURSELF THAT THIS ITEM IS JUST A RECEIVER, IT DOES NOT ACTUALLY PLAY DISKS HOWEVER THE SOUND IS CRISP AND CLEAR, EVEN THOUGH THE SPEAKERS WERE MADE WITH TIP PLASTIC AND THE MENUS ARE CONFUSING BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT SEE THEM ON THE TV (VIDEO OUTPUT) YOU HAVE TO CONFIGURE EVERYTHING IN THE LITTLE DISPLAY THIS SYSTEM HAS. ANYHOW IF YOU HAVE A PLAY STATION 3 TO MATCH THIS RECEIVER, WE ARE GOING TO BE HAPPY. IT WORKS FINE. MOVIES ARE CLOSE TO BE REAL (SOUND AND VIDEO) THIS ONLY IF YOU ALSO HAVE A 1080i or 1080P TV MONITOR. CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE, BUT THERE IS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENTS BY (SONY)
Deceptive Name June 21, 2008 Pilot Joe 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Great sound. Easy setup. However the name is very misleading. I thought it included a Blu-ray player but it only MATCHES the Blu-ray player that is sold seperately. I admit it was my fault and bit on the bait.
P.S. DON'T buy a Blu-ray player. Very limited unit. Spend the same amount on a Playstation 3. It can play Blu-ray discs, DVDs and CDs. It is also internet wireless ready and I can access Netflix online and my home computer to display pictures and video.
Save You Money May 26, 2008 Charles W. Brown (Chicago, IL USA) 7 out of 12 found this review helpful
Save your money on this item. I thought this would work great with a new HDTV and Sony Blu-Ray. It sounds cheap and looks cheap. It has a very bad tinny sound. Save your money and buy a better system for your new DVD player.
ATTENTION! Not a BD Player May 21, 2008 Fernando Suarez H (Colombia) 13 out of 28 found this review helpful
My wife gave me this as a birthday gift because I gave myself a 40" HDTV and I'm a huge fan of movies. BUT!!! When the package arrived, there were no BluRay logos anywhere on the box. I didn't open it but checked in amazon, and surprise: it's one of the best selling "BluRay Players" but it is just a home theater, the BD player is not included (no wonder the price).
