AUTO switching doesn't work November 9, 2008 J. G. Tyson (Denver) Unit will pass a signal to output port but will not auto-switch between a Toshiba HD-A30 or a Sony BDP-350 DVD player. Manual switching works okay but it's supposed to be automatic. Philips tech support confirms that some input devices will not work properly with unit. They don't know why and don't have a list of incompatible source products. They recommend returning for refund and buying a different brand. It might work with your components, it might not. I would avoid buying this product.

OK, but July 28, 2008 John M. Krinke (Indy) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As in other reviews I saw on various HDMI switchers that were supposed to be AUTOMATIC, you can generally expect to have to get out of your comfortable chair or couch to manually switch ports. Other than that, it does work, and was quite a bit cheaper than some of the more expensive that had the same shortfall of AUTO being more effectively MANUAL.
Signal Switcher or Blocker??? July 3, 2008 P. Coburn (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This item was purchased to connect DirecTV HD and Toshiba DVD HD to a Panasonic HDTV that has only one HDMI input. Having read the previous review regarding the DirecTV signal I used cables that I know were good and positioned the devices in every possible position and even with just one device at a time plugged into slot 1 I could never get a signal through the switch Two days after receipt it was returned and I'm waiting for a refund.
Will this unit will work with your HDMI sources?? June 30, 2008 Don Orofino (Boston, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this unit after reading the positive reviews, but am returning it now after a poor experience. Some facts that weren't apparent - compatibility with your HDMI source is certainly not assured. I was "0 for 2" on my sources - neither worked satisfactorily. Here's what I found with two sources running through this HDMI switch box running to a Samsung LNS4696 LCD (YMMV): 1 - Verizon/Motorola HDTV cable box: video appeared, but only at a reduced screen size and resolution. Lots of experimentation with cycling power, order of power-up of source/switch/display, switch input line, etc. No acceptable solution found. 2 - D-Line DSM-520 MediaLounge player: video failed to appear for every attempted configuration. 3 - I had to use Manual mode when attempting to view source 2 and 3; seems the cable box always presents an HDMI output signal of some sort, even when power is 'off'. Not a show-stopper for use (the unit thankfully has a Manual mode!), but something to know...
